Description
We started with a tent, upgraded to a camper van, then up graded to a pop top van & finally fell in love with this base station.
We needed a 6 berth van to fit in our family of 5 plus nan & we found it. Our kids are tall so we didn't want the low height triple bunks & the base station has twin double bunks in the back area so the kids have room to move, there is a double bed at the front & that is the only thing you have to do to set up, we have many trips where we have left the night before, driven until 1/2am, pull up on side of road & carry kids to bed & they don't wake up.
The van has seating for 4 in the front but we removed the fixed table to make getting in & out of bed easier, so we have a portable table in the van to use when we need to eat inside (which has been rare). When we stop on the side of the road we drop the back deck down & use it as a massive table.
The van has a toilet & shower with gas & electric hot water, which is great when you are off the beaten track. There are solar panels & a good 12 volt system for lights. We have stayed out past Broken Hill & free camped with no power issues.
There is a 3 way fridge & gas stove inside & we supply a Webber Q BBQ for use outside.
There are 2 tv's with inbuilt dvd units but we can supply attachments for ipads to the tv at an extra cost $10 per unit per hire. The tv's also run on 12 volt power so if you are free camping you can still use the tv.
We supply 2 portable tables (one to eat on inside & one for bbq) we have another you can use for $10 extra on the hire.
We also supply 2 sheets for each bed (just bottom sheets), pillows & pillow cases, but you need to bring your own sleeping bags or we can hire at an additional cost of $10 each per hire.
You will also need your own camp chairs or we can supply for an additional cost $10 each per hire & not the cheap bunnings ones, these are our good camp chairs.
The kitchen has plates, cutlery, cups, sauce pan, fry pan, bbq tool & cooking
utensils. We also provide some salt, pepper, sugar, coffee, tea, spray for bbq & some cleaning products to assist with your trip.
We also supply bath sheets (3), bath towels (5), bath mats (2), face washers (6), hand towels (3) and tea towels (3) in the nightly rate, you just need to bring pool/beach towels. We thought this was easier as we don't know where you are going with the van.
The base station was designed for motorbikes & the like but we have never used it for that & as such no motorbikes will be allowed to be stored in the back, we wanted this van for the room it offered for 3 tall kids.
You can pack push bikes, canoes, paddle boards, etc in the back, so there is no need for bike racks or roof racks, this can can fit quite a lot of gear in it if it is packed right.
Our van is able to be taken to the snow fields, we have stayed at the kosciuszko caravan park many times & the van stays nice & warm. We have a roof top air conditioner/heater (sorry it is a bit noisy) but if you are headed to the snow let us know & we will include a dyson heater to put in the back area to help with heating. All beds come with electric blankets which are great down there.
Our minimum hire is 3 nights, if you book for 14 nights & more & want the van delivered & picked up we can do for free. If you stay is less than 14 nights & you want the van delivered & picked up we can negotiate a rate that suits depending on location.
We can even do a complete set up, pack up & clean for a set fee of $150, this does not include the delivery, this is just our time to make the van walk in, walk out.

House Rules
Recommended maximum speed limit is 90km, we tow with a V8 Landcruiser & thats all we do towing it.
ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING IN VAN OR UNDER AWNING, sorry but our daughter has bad reactions to cigarette smoke. Any cigarette odour will result in loss of bond, we are pretty easy going but this is a non negotiable for us.
If you use the toilet you need to use the chemicals provided and empty it as per the instructions & it must be emptied when returned.
Please do not use the awning in high winds, yes we supply you with deflappers, ropes & pegs but these fixed span awnings are not designed to be used in high winds, so please take the time to roll it in if the weather looks like it will turn. We have detailed instructions in the manual for putting the awning up & down if you get stuck.
No dirt roads, excepting getting in & out of camp areas is ok but we don't want you driving 50kms plus down dirt roads. However if you want to discuss your trip with us we might be negotiable to bending this rule but it is on a case by case basis only.
We have a checklist to what is in the van & will go through it with you on pick up & drop off & we both sign it to ensure no one gets screwed over.
We know accidents can happen & general wear & tear is fine, but major damage that makes my wife want to kill me will cost you. If something happens while you are out with our van we expect you to let us know what has happened.
We expect van to look the way it was delivered to you when you bring it back, we supply cleaning products to help you look after it, unless of course you pay us to do it for you.
Cooking inside the van is ok, we don't do it but we understand that you may do it, all we ask is that you clean the stove so nothing sets hard & cannot be removed. There are smoke detectors in the van that are tested before a van goes out so watch out for them!!
The BBQ goes to you clean, we expect it to return in the same way. We don't expect it to by all shiny but it must be clean. If it isn't returned clean we will deduct $300 from your bond because its a nasty job.
There is a fire extinguisher & fire blanket in the van if needed, we hope you don't but just in case.
There is also a personal first aid kit in the van for any needs to pop up, please tell us if you use it so we can replenish before next hire (we do check but it does help us out).
